ABOUT US
Cuddalore District is one of the oldest and historically significant coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. The district, in its present form, came into existence after the bifurcation of the erstwhile South Arcot District on 30 September 1993, with Cuddalore as its headquarters.
With a population of 26 lakh and a total geographical area of 3678 square kilometers, the district has a diversified economy driven by Agriculture, Fisheries, Mining, Power generation, and Manufacturing. It is renowned for its fertile agricultural lands, lignite reserves, and GI-tagged products such as Panruti Cashew and Jackfruit, as well as major industrial establishments.
Cuddalore, a continuously inhabited district from prehistoric times, is rich in heritage and natural beauty. It is home to some iconic tourist and religious destinations such as Chidambaram Natarajar Temple, Pichavaram Mangrove Forest, Cuddalore Silver Beach, Vadalur Vallalar Temple, and the historically significant Veeranam Lake.
