About The Department
The Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business helps farmers access organised markets, obtain transparent price discovery, reduce post-harvest losses, use storage facilities and strengthen value addition and market linkages. In Cuddalore District, the Regulated Market Committee operates regulated markets and storage infrastructure for agricultural produce.
🏢 Department Functions
- Facilitate sale of agricultural produce through Regulated Markets and transparent bidding.
- Promote e-NAM electronic trading through participating markets.
- Provide eligible pledge-loan facilities against produce stored in regulated-market godowns.
- Support Farmer Producer Organisations / Companies (FPOs/FPCs), aggregation, market linkage, processing and value addition through applicable programmes.
- Improve post-harvest management through storage, primary processing, grading, drying and related infrastructure.
- Facilitate price-support procurement for notified commodities when the scheme is activated and conditions are met.
- Promote direct marketing and farmer-consumer linkages through relevant facilities such as Uzhavar Sandhai, where available.
