Thiru V.P Thandapani, I.A.S. Collector and District Magistrate, is an officer of Indian Administrative Service belonging to the 2009 batch. He did his B.Sc.,(Chemistry) from University of Madras, Post Graduate Diploma in Plastics Processing Technology from CIPET-Chennai, Master of Arts in Political Science from Madurai Kamaraj University and Advance Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Management (Gold Medallist) from Mumbai University. He had vast experience in the Rural Development and Municipal Administration Departments. Further, he had served as Sub Collector, Ponneri, Sub-division of Tiruvallur District and as Director of Fisheries.
During the tenure as the Commissioner of Tiruchirappalli City Corporation, the city had bagged the “Best Corporation Award” from Tamil Nadu State for the year 2014, The SKOCH award for the green park established in an extent of 22 acres, with the community participation and also fetched the Second Cleanest city rank in the country out of 476 cities enumerated for the year 2014. He had done his best services during the Thane cyclone (2011), Vardha cyclone (2016) and also during the Ockhi cyclone (2017).
