The District Industries Centre, Cuddalore in the institution working under the control of Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Chepauk. It provides all the services and support facilities to the entrepreneurs for setting up of small and Villages Industries. This includes identification of suitable scheme, preparation of project and feasibility reports, arrangements for credit facilities, machinery and equipment, provision of raw materials and extension services. 0ther activities of DIC include issue of SSI provisional (now "0n-line, instantaneous) and permanent registration, cottage sand Handicrafts Industries Registration, Implementation of PMRY scheme, New Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, EDP for women. Export guidance cell cluster Development Programme, Single widow committee clearance, Industrial Facilitation Councils, Industrial Co-operative Societies etc.,

Achievement of Schemes

(a)New Anna Marumalarichi Thittam:
In order to promote agro-industries in districts, Government of Tamilnadu have given a thrust to start Agro-based Industries in order to have employment generation in rural areas so far 272 applications were received. 19 applications had been selected by State Level Co-ordination Committee in 13 Blocks. 0ut of this 4 cases were sanctioned sofar and sanctioned for 2 more cases are awaited shortly. In Panruti Block for Cashew processing one has stated production on 11.6.2003 with investment of Rs.68 lakhs . Two more units would commence production before March 2004.

(b) EDP: Under 5 lakh women EDP out of a target of 950 for district in 2001-2002 and 2002-03, 950 women in each year were trained and 2901 women have started their own units. During current year 2003-04, sofar 515 women were trained and forget would be completed this year also before March 2004.

(c) PMRY: Under this scheme, out of a target of 730 cases so far 354 candidates were sanctioned for an Amount of Rs.141.23 lakhs

Further about 39 entrepreneurs have so far been guided under Export Guidance cell for obtaining Export prospects in Cuddalore District.
